Today's entry should be much shorter than yesterday's - as this is largely a travelling day. We are travelling around 600 kilometres today in a westerly direction across Turkey.
We left the hotel this morning at 7.30am - another early morning. Fatigued would be a fairly accurate way of describing how we're feeling at the moment! But elated at the same time. We have seen and done so much in the last 5 days.
After travelling for a couple of hours we stopped for a coffee and while we were in the cafe I had a call from my little Scarlett - who told me that she misses me. What a little darling. In a short conversation with Carly I let her know that contact has been difficult - what with us being out and about for most of the time, the time difference and dodgy WiFi at times. It was great to hear from home.
Back on the road and our next stop was Konya which is the home of the Mevlana Museum. Mevlana was the 13th Century founder of the Whirling Dervishes. A fascinating museum which houses Mevlana's Tomb.
We're back on the road again. Because we've been so active I've found myself behind in diary entries. On the bus is the perfect time to catch up. I'm happily typing away on my tablet - regularly seeking assistance from Red as to when we did what etc - and at the same time looking out at stunning scenery as we travel across Turkey. It is very green - with snow capped mountains on the horizon. This is a great time of the year to see Turkey.
We had lunch at another roadside cafe - once again, well set out, clean and efficient. Stopped again a few hours later and tasted a local delicacy - natural yoghurt, honey and poppy seeds - beautiful.
We finally arrived at our hotel in Pamukkale (pronounced Pamookully with the emphasis on "oo") at about 7.30pm. We've been travelling for 12 hours. We are staying at a Thermal Hotel - with an emphasis on health and healing. There are several thermal pools here with varying degrees of heat. Time has run away from us I'm afraid, and we haven't had a swim in the pools. Maybe early tomorrow morning.
